Should I learn automatic or manual?

We suggest learning the transmission that you're most comfortable with. If your parents only drive automatic and you don't have access to a manual car then it might be a good idea to choose automatic driving lessons. On the other hand, if you've got access to a manual car you should know that a manual driver's licence will allow you to legally drive with either transmission.

What do I need to bring to a driving lesson?

You need a valid Australian learner's permit or another valid driver's licence, your log book and you must be prepared to have fun.

How do I get a learner's permit?

First of all, make sure you know your road rules. We've got an app for that. Second of all, make sure you know your road rules. The app is completely free. Lastly, once you know your road rules head on over to a driver licensing and issuing centre and sit a short written exam. It's only 30 questions, and costs $22.50.

What sort of training and accreditation does a No Yelling driver trainer have?

Your driver trainer is as much selected for their communication and teaching skills as they are for their personality. At No Yelling, all driving instructors are government accredited driver trainers and are internally vetted and vouched for by a member of our core team. On top of this, they all pass a police check and carry a valid blue card along with a flawless driving record and an Australian driver's licence.

Can I get a female/male driver trainer?

We have a mix of instructors from all sorts of backgrounds. Just state your preferences when booking a lesson or making an enquiry and we'll gladly accomodate you (if we can).

Can I get driving lessons outside of normal business hours?

Of course. Lessons outside of normal business hours and on weekends/public holidays are part of the normal service of a driving school. Most of our learners are young people with busy schedules, and driving instructors regularly make arrangements to do driving lessons around school, work or university timetables.

Do you do driving lessons in my area?

How do I book a test?

Your definitive source of information for booking your practical test is your state government's website. Once you've booked and paid for a test slot with the government, talk to your driver trainer about preparing for that date. It may sounds obvious, but if you need to use your trainer's car on the day of your test, make sure you arrange that with them, too.

Can I use your car for the test?

Yes. If you need to use your driver trainer's car for your test, you can book and make your payment here. In practice, it's a good idea to get a touch up lesson immediately before sitting your test. It will help calm any nerves, and give you time to enter a confident head space before sitting your practical test.
